Important Considerations

At Serenity Recovery Coordination, we believe in choice and control, and that includes making sure you understand how your NDIS funding works. We value openness and transparency, ensuring you have the knowledge to make informed decisions about how your funding can—and can't—be used.

NDIS billing can sometimes feel confusing, especially for costs you don’t see directly. That’s why we break it down clearly, so you always know where your funding is going. Like many NDIS services, we charge for certain approved tasks, even when we’re working behind the scenes to support you.

The NDIS allows billing for the following tasks as part of Recovery Coaching and Support Coordination, ensuring you receive the essential support needed to manage your plan effectively and progress toward your goals.

Information About Non-Direct Billing

  • Communication & Appointments

We connect with you, your consented family/nominee, and we charge for time spent responding to messages, emails, and phone calls related to your support. This ensures clear and consistent communication to keep your plan running smoothly.

  • Service Coordination

Coordinating your supports takes work behind the scenes. We liaise with providers, arrange services, and ensure everything aligns with your goals. This ensures you receive the right support without the stress of managing it all yourself

  • Planning & Reporting

Keeping your NDIS plan on track requires planning, goal setting, and regular reporting. We document progress, prepare reports for the NDIS, and adjust your supports to match your evolving needs—all of which are part of the services we can bill for.

  • Capacity Building & Support

Beyond direct sessions, we dedicate time to researching opportunities, identifying resources, and developing strategies to help you build independence and confidence. This ensures your support is proactive, not just reactive

  • Provider & Stakeholder Liaison

Engaging with other professionals—such as therapists, support workers, and NDIS representatives—helps streamline your support network. Time spent discussing your needs and ensuring services work together effectively is billable

  • Administrative & Compliance Work

Completing required paperwork, reviewing service agreements, and ensuring compliance with NDIS guidelines are essential tasks that help keep your plan structured and effective. These behind-the-scenes activities are included in non-direct billing.

Maximising your NDIS Funding

  • Your NDIS funding is designed to support you in achieving your goals, but regular communication with your Coordinator uses your funded hours. To ensure your support lasts the full duration of your plan, work with your Coordinator to plan your communication in a way that balances engagement with efficiency. You can also request a weekly update to stay informed on their progress, helping you make informed decisions about how best to use your time and resources.

  • Your Coordinator works behind the scenes to ensure your NDIS plan runs smoothly. Most tasks performed under NDIS Guidelines are billable, covering essential activities like coordinating services, managing reports, and liaising with providers to ensure you receive the best possible support. These tasks help streamline your journey, making sure everything aligns with your needs. Billing is processed according to your plan management, ensuring transparency and accountability.

  • Your funded hours ensure you receive the support you need throughout your plan period. Once these hours are fully used, your Coordinator can’t provide further assistance until new funding becomes available. To prevent unexpected gaps in service, it’s important to plan ahead with your Coordinator, ensuring your funded hours are spread effectively across your plan duration. This allows you to maintain consistent support and achieve your goals without interruption.

Funding Exclusions for
SC & RC

Support Coordinators and Recovery Coaches help you navigate the NDIS, connect with services, and build strong provider relationships—but with Coordination of Supports funding, we don’t deliver those services ourselves. Our role is to guide and support you in making informed choices, not to provide hands-on care or therapy. We ensure you have access to the right professionals who can meet your needs while helping you make the most of your plan.

Here are a few things a SC or RC isn’t able to do:

  • Personal Support & Transport: We don’t provide direct transport or personal support sessions—this is the role of Support Workers. If you need assistance finding one, we’re happy to help you connect with the right provider.

  • Intensive Case Management: We guide and coordinate services, but we don’t provide intensive personal or case management support. Our focus is on helping you access the right professionals for your needs.

  • Booking Individual Support Staff: We don’t arrange specific staff for your supports. Instead, we connect you with services that can help you organize your supports directly, ensuring you receive the right assistance.

  • Ordering Consumables: We don’t process orders for consumable products. However, we help set up a service agreement with a suitable provider, so you can work with them directly to manage your needs.

  • Providing Therapy or Direct Care: While we assist in linking you with therapeutic services, we don’t deliver therapy or hands-on care ourselves. Our role is to ensure you have access to the right specialists for your situation.

  • Managing Finances: We don’t control or distribute NDIS funds, but we do help you understand your funding and connect you with plan management services that can assist in handling payments.
